During his 24-year career in higher education, Alford has worked on initiatives with the Department of Education to address retention challenges for minority-serving institutions, with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections to develop Prison Education Programming at Madison College, and has assisted the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators in efforts to make Pell Grants once again available for incarcerated students.
