Findley has been a public defender, and since 1997, a faculty member at the UW Law School. In 1998, he co-founded the Wisconsin Innocence Project, which he co-directed until 2017, when he became senior advisor. In 2018, Findley co-founded the Center for Integrity in Forensic Sciences. Recently, he served on several City of Madison policing committees, including the new Police Civilian Oversight Board.
