Cheney represented Wyoming’s at-large congressional district from 2017 to 2023, and was the chair of the House Republican Conference from 2019 to 2021. A vocal critic of former President Donald Trump, she was one of only two Republicans to serve on the House’s Jan. 6 committe. She is currently a professor at the University of Virginia Center for Politics.
